Asavela Mngqithi (birthed 4 June 1996), a 24-year-old South African screen character, Television personality, as well as aspiring filmmaker. She got popular to draw attention to Ntwenhle's character in Isibiya, a South African drama. She has always loved acting and has done it since she was a child.

Asavela is the daughter of Manqoba Mngqithi, a South African football coach. She grew up in Lamontville, an isiZulu-speaking township, she grew up speaking isiZulu but she is from the Xhosa tribe.
Based on the Instagram videos she uploads of Isibay's behind the scenes, it's easy to see why the show and production teams thought Asavela was perfect for the role she plays. Asavela was playing the role of a gangster's like character on Isibaya, she recently joined the DSTV show "Abomama", where she is part of church ladies who are capable of doing crimes. The show features almost the same theme as "Isibaya".
