Zodwa Wabantu took to Instagram on Monday, 9 August 2021, to share a video of her time at a police station. In the early hours of that day, Wabantu was arrested for allegedly breaking curfew regulations. The video shared at the time was from a live session that showcased a temperamental Wabantu being antagonistic to the officers that were conducting her arrest.

Wabantu, recognising that she was being recorded, did so with her own camera. During her arrest, she was with her manager. The manager was the voice of reason during the incident, as Wabantu and the South African Police Service (SAPS) engaged in a heated back-and-forth.
