Nokuthula Ledwaba


1Magic has confirmed the return of The River’s Angelina, which marks Nokuthula Ledwaba’s third character that is currently on air on television.

1Magic’s The River took to Twitter on Monday, 9 August 2021, to confirm the return of supporting cast member, Nokuthula Ledwaba. Ledwaba plays the contentious and antagonistic character of Angelina. Angelina was the first “baby mama” introduced for leading male character, Thuso, played by Presley Chweneyagae. Since her first appearance during the second season of the show, she has remained one of the favourite supporting characters.


Considering that Chweneyagae is currently on a production break, it will be of interest to see what conflict Angelina is set to introduce. From her appearance in the latest episode, it seems that Angelina will be pitted against Dimpho, played by Matshepo Sekgopi. The two have had an antagonistic relationship since the beginning, when Angelina used to threaten Dimpho to keep her secrets, which always eventually came out.

Ledwaba’s storyline is set to be nuanced with the continued airing of the episodes. The River airs every weeknight on 1Magic, DStv channel 103, at 19:00.
