Soul Star has released his new single, Chuck Norris, which marks an independent release from his 2020 EP, Khale.
Sony Music Africa took to Instagram on Thursday, 1 July 2021, to confirm the imminent availability of Soul Star’s new single, Chuck Norris. The single is a mid-tempo, amapiano single. The single marks the debut release from the musician who last released in 2020, when he released his single uMoya Wami, featuring 2Point1 and his four-track EP, Khale.
On Chuck Norris, Soul Star borrows the lyrical content of the song by using the parable of Chuck Norris. The parable is the age-old comparison of achieving the impossible, as something that Chuck Norris would do. Therefore with the lyrics, Soul Star compares the impact and influence which amapiano has as similar to the miracle actions of Chuck Norris.
Despite the single being amapiano, the single also has influences of afro-pop, which deliver the comical lyrics with a sincerity which can only be achieved through referencing the music genre. Moreover, the single falls more under classic amapiano, than the new club banger led singles releases.
