Oskido has announced the release date of the music video for his current lead single, Banky Banky, featuring Niniola, from his EP, Back to the Future.
Oskido took to Instagram on Monday, 5 July 2021, to share the preview of the Bank Banky music video, featuring Nigerian vocalist, Niniola. The preview was shared with a caption confirming the imminent release of the supporting visuals for the single that is the lead single of the EP, Back to the Future. The EP is the latest three-track project by the Kalawa Jazmee frontman, which was released on Friday, 28 May 2021.
Oskido is considered one of the founders of kwaito, through Kalawa Jazmee, which signed groups such as Boom Shaka and Bongo Maffin. Throughout Back to the Future, Oskido explores the similarities between kwaito and amapiano. However, in Banky Banky, Oskido and Niniola added an additional musical reference, as the track has afro-beats influences.
According to the shared post, the music video does not seem to be set on a narrative. However, the premise of the music video is to continue highlighting the intra-continental collaboration. This is as the one scene shared revealed that some of the scenes for the music were shot at Durama, which is Oskido’s Asian-inspired restaurant. The subsequent scenes are expected to feature a dancer dancing to the single, while infusing West African dance influences into the choreography.
Banky Banky is set to premiere on YouTube on Wednesday, 7 July 2021.
