M-Net’s Legacy has announced the premiere date of season two of the telenovela, after confirming the renewal of the show for another season.
M-Net’s Legacy cast took to Twitter on Friday, 23 July 2021, to confirm that the telenovela is set to return for its second season. The renewal of the show affirms the continued genius of Tshedza Pictures, which is behind hit telenovelas such as The River and Gomora. Therefore, the renewal of Legacy marks the third ongoing show on air by the production company.
According to Phathu Makwarela, who is one half of the executive producers of the show, “The manner in which viewers embraced Legacy as M-Net’s first telenovela made this whole experience wonderful, and we are indebted to our viewers who have gone on this rollercoaster ride with us.” Adding, “As we move towards Season 2, we can promise viewers a rebirth of the series and a big expansion of the story universe which will allow us to tell more compelling and addictive drama.”
Detailing what fans can expect from the new season, the statement read, “The impressive, first-of-its-kind telenovela won a remarkable six SAFTAS for its first season, including Best Telenovela and the second season promises to be nothing short of exceptional. A new family is introduced, enemies become allies and secrets from the past are resurfaced…because nothing can be hidden forever.”
The second season of Legacy is set to premiere on Monday, 20 September 2021.
