Cassper Nyovest took to Instagram on Monday, 26 July 2021, to host a live session. The live was hosted alongside his producer, Abidoza. The two are behind Nyovest’s most recent album, Sweet and Short 2.0. The album is a revisiting of Nyovest’s 2018 album, which explored the Root of Fame creator’s exploration of amapiano and kwaito influences.

Despite the tentative reception to the album. Siyathandana, featuring Boohle, which was the last lead single from the album, is still the most streamed and played song on Apple Music South Africa. Nyovest has since asserted the song as possibly the biggest song of the year, if nothing different happens in music. However, it previously seemed that due to the backlash over the album’s alleged generic sound, Nyovest had opted to start working on a hip-hop album.

Nyovest took to Twitter on Thursday, 22 July 2021, to tweet, “My next Hip Hop album gone be a vibe. Just wanna make a vibey project full of melodies, smooth R&B and 808 production. For now, we are smashing this log drum! Amapiano to the world! Siyathandana is still the biggest song in the country! I got the hottest sneaker out!”

The live also gave fans a new tag word, “Ewa.” The term, which was propagated by Nyovest and Abidoza during their intoxicated Instagram Live, is meant to signify e-walleting your partner in order to stop them from complaining about anything. The two went on to suggest that instead of engaging in the conversation, rather “ewa” them.

Moreover, the biggest highlight of the live session was Nyovest sharing a snippet of his collaborative single with American R&B singer and songwriter, Ne-Yo. Nyovest revealed that he worked on an amapiano single with the So Sick hitmaker. The revelation suggests that while working on the aforementioned album, the rapper is still focused on releasing more amapiano singles in the interim.
