Ayanda Thabethe eventually deleted her inflammatory tweet claiming that she has retreated to her holiday home, in light of the current unrest in the country.

Ayanda Thabethe took to Twitter on Thursday, 15 July 2021, to share an inflammatory tweet that prompted backlash and criticism. The former Top Billing personality, in light of the current socio-political unrest, tweeted, “Grateful to be in the privileged position to escape the madness to our holiday home… Figuring out how to get food for my family is what’s weighing heavily on my heart. I’m going to need to do this till things are okay and who knows how long that will take.”


The tweet sparked much conversation and controversy. Moreover, Thabethe initially seemed adamant to keep the tweet on her timeline. However, in light of the continued backlash and possibly the fear of the post eventually affecting her public persona, the star deleted the post.

As she returned to Twitter, Thabethe laughed off the backlash she received. Thabethe seemed unfazed by the backlash, which supports her sentiments that she is in a relaxed and calm state wherever she is.
