Toronto, Canada
Your Arctic adventure will begin in
Canada’s biggest city, Toronto. Unlike the rest of your journey, Toronto is as
urban as it gets. A multicultural metropolis, Toronto is a wonderful place to
shop for winter gear at excellent prices, eat delectable food from across the
world, and explore renowned historical, art, and entertainment venues.
After you’re done exploring one of
the world’s finest cities, you’ll travel on your charter flight to the small
Arctic town of Resolute before beginning your sensational cruise.
Canada’s High Arctic
On your luxurious cruise ship,
you’ll travel through Canada’s beautiful High Arctic. You may also take a
helicopter ride for an intimate look at your surroundings. You’ll visit Beechey
Island, a Canadian National Historic Site, where you’ll find the final resting
place of three people from Sir John Franklin’s1845–46 Northwest Passage
discovery expedition.
Next, you’ll find yourself at
Radstock Bay polar bear research station. Here, you’re likely to see polar
bears in their element and will understand why they’re called Kings of the
North. Despite weighing anywhere from 350 to 550 kilograms, the majestic
creatures can move as fast as 40 kph on land and 10 kph underwater thanks to
their powerful physique.
You’ll notice that the majestic
polar bear is comfortable even in the harshest of temperatures due to a dense
layer of fat and two fur coats — while the outer coat acts as a protective
layer, the undercoat delivers warmth.
Your final stop on your High Arctic
adventure will be to Grise Fjord, home to a mostly Inuit community. You can
visit historical sites and learn more about how they hunt and fish.
West Greenland
The stunning glaciers, fjords,
communities, sea creatures, and wildlife you'll see on the west coast of
Greenland will leave memories of a lifetime. As your ship nears the lovely
hearts-shaped mountain Uummannaq, you’ll scarcely believe your eyes. The twin peaks
make for a spectacular backdrop for the colourfully painted wooden houses in
the settlement below.
Further, on your journey, you'll
visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ilulissat Icefjord. This gorgeous locale
is host to the world’s fastest and loudest glacier, Sermeq Kujalleq. As you
explore the area, you may hear the roars of ice breaking off. Icebergs that
break from Sermeq Kujalleq spectacularly head off into an Arctic fjord.
Deeper into your journey, you’ll be
treated to a fascinating kayaking demonstration and a scenic hike around the
stunning Itilleq Fjord. With so many breathtaking adventures in your future,
you must book your journey through the Northwest Passage soon.
