WhatsApp wrote in a blogpost, Catalogs are a mobile storefront for small businesses to showcase and share their goods so people can easily browse and discover something they would like to buy. As well as profile space for details like an address, company email, website, and a general business description, the app also includes “smart messaging” tools such as automated replies to frequently asked questions, greeting messages, and customizable away messages during non-work hours
Previously Small businesses had to post product photos one at a time and regularly provide information — now consumers can see their full catalog right inside WhatsApp. This gives business owners look more professional and retain customers engaged in the chat without having to visit a website.
