Travelling Distance from Mumbai to Tadoba
The total distance from Mumbai to the Tadoba Tiger Reserve is about 900 Kilometers. The nearest airport is Nagpur, and you can reach it in 1.5 hours by air. Nagpur also happens to be the nearest railway station. You could easily undertake an overnight Thursday evening by train to Nagpur from Mumbai. From Nagpur, you may travel another three to four hours by car. Alternatively, you could go by train from Mumbai to Chandrapur instead of Nagpur. However, there are limited trains that are available in this sector.Alternatively, you could avail of a flight early morning on Friday from Mumbai to Nagpur that would reach Nagpur by 9 am. So you can rest assured that you can go for the evening jungle safari at the Tadoba National Park. Air India flight no: AI-627 would be leaving Mumbai at 5.55 am and reaching Nagpur at 7.15 am.
Whether you are availing a train or a flight, you must arrange for a car pick up. You must book an AC vehicle in advance while booking a room at one of the comfortable resorts at Tadoba National Park.

You may take a day off and enjoy a relaxing and exciting weekend at Tadoba. Apply for leave on either Friday or Monday, assuming you have a five-day week at work and both Saturday and Sunday are off.Be Choosy about Trains to Avail from Mumbai to Nagpur
You could save precious vacation time at the National Park if you avail of an overnight train from Mumbai to Nagpur on Thursday evening. However, you must choose only the comfortable and reliable trains such as Vidarbha Express that depart from Mumbai every day at 7.15 pm and reaches Nagpur at 8.55 am.Alternatively, you may avail of Duronto Express, which leaves Mumbai at 8.15 pm and reaches Nagpur at 7.20 am. These trains are best for achieving Tadoba on time after another 3 to 4 hours of drive from Nagpur so that you can catch the evening safari on Friday itself. Both train timings are convenient as you could attend a full day at the office and commence the journey.
Duronto Express is supposed to be a premium train that travels faster and provides meals, snacks,s and with a better travel experience. The idea behind availing of these two trains is to reach Tadoba on time to enjoy the first Tadoba jungle safari on Day one, Friday evening itself.
There are two daily safaris: A morning safari from 6.00 am to 11.00 am and an evening safari from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm. However, these timings are subject to change. You could enjoy four safaris in one weekend if you plan your trip wisely.
Return Journey to Nagpur & to Mumbai
You must keep everything packed on Saturday night itself. On Sunday, you could return to the resort after your fourth Tadoba jungle safari around 11 am. You are advised to leave for Nagpur by car just after the safari. You could then reach Nagpur on time to avail of Vidarbha Express at 5.15 pm or the Duronto Express at 8.40 pm. However, please note that train schedules are subject to last-minute changes.You can book return flights from Nagpur to Mumbai well in advance. You must reach Nagpur airport latest by 6 pm to avail of flights from Indigo Airlines departing at 8.25 pm from Nagpur and going to Mumbai at 10 pm or an Air India flight leaving at 9.20 going to Mumbai at 10.55 pm.
