The role of Soledad is played by Mexican actress and singer Laura de León.A new novela called Light My Eyes premieres on EVA next Wednesday (20 June) at 17h00, replacing the repeat of Searching for Maria, which ends the day before.
The show explores the darkness that befalls Soledad Burgos when she loses her sight as a young girl.
She also loses her brother when her blindness results in an accident that costs him his life.
And her mother Delfina will never forgive her.
Despite her mother's hatred, she grows up to become a respected artist and meets Vincente, a passionate and wealthy man who owns a radio station.
The two connect deeply but both are vulnerable to their family's ill intentions, proving that "family love" is highly overrated - and often fake! - and that family members can be your most cruel enemies.
Soledad's mother tricks them into believing the child they have together is dead and the penniless side of Vincente's family manipulate him into marrying someone he doesn't love.
