After rekindling their broken engagement just over a year ago, Pearl Modiadie and her fiance, Nkululeko Buthelezi, have reportedly put their wedding on the ice again.
A relative apparently told the tabloid that Pearl called the big day off after “silly clashes.” Another source said that there were also cultural clashes between Pearl and Nkululeko’s families.
Pearl told the paper that she was not ready to talk about the situation and asked to be respected.
“It is not something that I’m ready to talk about now guys, please understand and respect that,” Pearl told the paper.
“She noted that if she continued with this wedding, she would have to divorce him after a few weeks, and this was going to dent her brand. She felt it would rather be better if she calls it off.”
Nkululeko apparently confirmed to the paper that the traditional wedding was “postponed,” but said they were at a funeral together.
In November 2016, Pearl sent the rumour mill into overdrive after she was spotted without her engagement ring for months.
Eventually, after speculation around her love life continued to mount, Pearl confirmed that she had called off the engagement but was shy to go into details.
During an interview with Drum magazine last year, Pearl said even though it was a difficult time for her, she focused on herself.
“It was hard, but I learnt that no matter how tough things get, you must allow yourself to feel everything you’re feeling when you’re at home.”
Nkululeko whisked Pearl to Victoria Falls in 2015 where he popped the question. When contacted by TshisaLIVE, Pearl declined to comment on the matter.
