THE Queen’s Loyiso MacDonald (30) would do anything for his family.
He said it’s the one thing he has in common with Kagiso, his character on the telenovela.
The actor from Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape said he would cross the Red Sea, take a bullet or even shoot someone to protect his family.
Although he does more bad than good on screen, Loyiso himself is down to earth.
Speaking to SunBuzz about his character, he said: “Kagiso was once a sweet guy but that’s over.
“Ever since he got introduced to the deep dark world of his family’s drug business, he just wants to get into more trouble,” said Loyiso.
Loyiso said he loves being in the entertainment industry even though it is full of fake people.
“I don’t entertain that. It’s the reason I keep to myself most of the time.”
He told SunBuzz that he is saddened by the current climate of violence against woman.
“These things have been happening for a while. It’s good that people are starting to ask the hard questions. But conversations on social media will make little change, if any.”
He said for real change to happen, something real has to be done.
Loyiso, popularly known for his Isidingo role as Ntando Sibeko, said acting has always been his dream. “I started getting paid for it in 2007. But it goes way back to when I was in grade five. I knew that working at a full-time job was not my thing.
“I had no expectations. I just wanted to do something I enjoyed,” he said.
Loyiso said they’re currently shooting season two of The Queen and he is enjoying every moment of it. “Season two is going to be action packed.”
