Television star Jessica Nkosi is set to star in musical theatre show Maria.
The musical is written by the founder of the Crown Gospel Awards, Zanele Mbokazi. It will be staged at Carnival City in Brakpan on June 25 as part of the Crown Gospel Award’s 10th year anniversary. It will be followed by the Crown Gospel Awards Blestival featuring local gospel stars.
Maria is based on the Biblical story of Maria and Jesus Christ.
In the production, Nkosi acts alongside Muvhango actor and singer Brian Temba. Nkosi portrays Maria in the musical while Temba plays the part of Jesus.
According to Nkosi, who also acts on Isibaya as Qondisile, the show tells the story of Jesus Christ through Maria.
