SPEAKERS at the service for Mandla Hlatshwayo at the Protea Hall in Protea Gardens, Soweto, described him as a humble and loving man.
Mourners used the funeral on Saturday to voice their anger at the crime taking place in Soweto.
Actor Mpho Tsedu said Mandla was trying to protect a vulnerable woman from thugs when he and his friend were shot dead last Sunday. He appealed to the government to find solutions to root out criminals.
“If it means bringing back the death penalty, so be it.”
Jozi FM boss Mpho Mhlongo said the station has lost someone who was a role model to many young and aspiring radio DJs.
“The station has been robbed of someone who was active and loved his job.
“Mandla was a hero.”
He was buried at Avalon Cemetery.
