On this day, 17 years ago, on the beautiful island of Nassau in the Bahamas, Carol and her husband Edward promised each other that they would be together forever.
In her sweet and romantic message she wrote: “You took my hand and promised me your heart! I looked into your eyes and did the same . . . everything else has been a magical cherry on top! Thank you my mentor and my greatest cheerleader, thank you heart and soul – my protector, my travel companion and the smartest man I know! Thank you Dad to the most cherished watching you impact people’s lives positively for the last 17 years – it has been an honour and a privilege to walk side by side with you!
She said being with him has taught her a great deal, and she went further to elaborate on the things being with him has taught her:
1. Live and let live- when you judge you only enable the limits of your mind
2. Be Positive – our constant focus on what is broken denies us the glory of our triumphs
3. We are all equal! Nobody is better than you and you are better than no-one! Understand that then respect is a given!
“Darling I could write a book based on what I have learnt from you but for today – I will stop there . . . Thank you for being an incredible role model Edward Bouwer – I would say “I do” today with the very same enthusiasm as I did on that Bahamian beach in 39 degrees 17 years ago! Happy Anniversary and here’s to many more,” she wrote.
