ACTRESS, Zola Nombona, is up for a top award at the 11th South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas).

She’s currently making waves on Mzansi Magic’s hot drama series, Lockdown, where she plays Monde.

At the Saftas, she’s up in the Best Actress TV Comedy category for her role as Kat, a role she played in Forced Love , which aired on SABC1.

She’s up against her industry peers Hannah Barnard of Puppet Nation ZANews ! and Chantal Herman of Those Who Can’t.

Speaking to Sunday Sun, the actress said it’s not an easy category but she’d really love to walk away with the award.

She said: “I work hard and I really enjoyed portraying the character of Kat.

“The character really stands out, and although it doesn’t take away from all the other characters I’ve played, it deserves an award.”
She added: “I’m looking forward to the award ceremony next week and I can’t reveal what I’ll be wearing yet, but it’s going to be exciting!”

The actress has just wrapped up the filming of the e.tv drama, Z’bondiwe, and has started rehearsals for Market Theatre’s The Suit.
She is one of the young actresses who are consistent with their craft, and her acting abilities have been stretched from comedy to drama, among other acting genres.
The Saftas take place at Sun City, in North West, from 16 to 18 March.

Don’t miss the live show on SABC2 on Saturday at 8pm.
