The producers of Generations: The Legacy will wait until after Joe Mafela's funeral before deciding on whether or not to replace him on the show.
Fans of the the veteran actor, known for his role as Tebogo Moroka on Generations: The Legacy, have speculated over whether the show will replace his popular character in the wake of his recent death.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE on Wednesday, Generations spokesperson Gaaratwe Mokhethi said that they had not yet decided on what to do with Joe's character.
"We are still mourning the death of Joe Mafela and so a decision hasn't been made yet. We will meet after the funeral to discuss whatever needs to be done," Gaaratwe said.
She denied social media reports that a new actor had already been cast in Joe's role.
Gaaratwe said that Joe would be missed on the show and paid tribute to his professionalism.
"He really looked after his craft. He would stay up until three in the morning studying his scripts and would then report only a few short hours later on set. He never complained and there were no diva moments with him. He was our elder and we are realising now how unique he was.
"We are so grateful to have witnessed his professionalism and are sad to have lost him at a time when his star was not only still shining but was very much on the rise," Gaaratwe added.
Joe died in a car accident in Johannesburg on Saturday night. News of his death sent shockwaves across the country.
