Media heavy weight Pearl Thusi added her voice to the raging debate around Western Cape premier Helen Zille’s colonialism tweets which has caused quite a stir.
In a tweet the former DA party leader Helen Zille said “for those claiming legacy of colonialism was only negative‚ think of our independent judiciary‚ transport infrastructure‚ piped water etc.”
Shortly afterward the Western Cape premier found herself under fire and one of those who blasted Zille for her comments was Lip Sync Battle host Pearl Thusi:
Pearl explained that Helen conveniently forgot about those who built the country’s infrastructure and asked “did they have to die for transport & f’ing pipes?”
Making reference to Penny Sparrow who caused a stir in SA in 2016 over racism comments – Pearl labeled her “Helen Sparrow”.
