e.tv hosted a press preview at a swanky venue in Joburg where new shows were announced.
It appears the channel is back in the ring to claim the number one program on the 8pm slot. Broken Vows will air in April and although the storyline was not given away, execs say viewers can "expect action and emotional tension" unfolding.
The cast includes Enhle Maphumulo, Nambitha Ben-Mazwi, Thembi Mtshali, as well as actors Thapelo Mokoena, Sello Sebotsane and Lehasa Moloi among others.
The show will also take credit for legendary actress Nomsa Nene's comeback into the industry. She plays a former ballroom dancer who falls on hard times. The actress has been out of sight since Zama Zama and feels like Broken Vows came just in time and people in similar situations will relate easily to her.
"My character, Lydia, becomes bitter and resentful after she falls on hard times. A lot of women who end up in that situation will definitely relate to what she are going through," Nomsa said.
Group content manager, Ziyanda Mngomezulu addressed the small crowd saying that e.tv has adopted the word innovation and play for the year 2017. "We plan on making local content the go-to for everyone and the ways we are going to do it is different and fresh.
"We do not want to tell stories the same old ways, so we are going to incorporate different techniques, like applying the method of having stories unfold using flash-backs and a distorted timelines."
