It has on Tuesday been confirmed that House Music veteran DJ Mdoo, whose real name is Mduduzi Ngcobo, has died after apparently suffering from kidney failure earlier this year.
News of DJ Mdoo's death has been confirmed to TshisaLIVE by his friend and musician DJ Mbuso Tulwana."Yes it is true DJ Mdoo passed away this morning. I don't have any further details but I'm travelling to visit the family in Soweto," he said.
Taking to Facebook as well Mbuso shared the news with fans.
"It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform you that Mduduzi Ngcobo a.k.a DJ Mdoo has passed away. Big Daddy left us this morning at 05:45am. Details of the funeral will be sent soon. Please inform other friends that may have known our good friend," read Mbuso's post.
The Soweto Deep House Festival has also shared news of the DJ's death on its Facebook page.

In September this year a Facebook page named a The Journey with DJ Mdoo was started in an attempt to rally help for the DJ who apparently suffered from kidney failure.
According to a post on the Facebook page, DJ Mdoo was diagnosed with kidney failure which turned his life "upside down".
"In this case our living legend and gentle giant DJ Mdoo's world has been turned upside down due to kidney failure. He is faced with a lot of medical challenges and we as his friends and colleagues have taken the initiative to assist him and we also appeal to you from the goodness of your heart to join us in celebrating his life and also donating so he can get better medical help," read the post.
Funeral details have not yet been confirmed.
As news spreads fans and well-known personalities have paid tribute to the musician.
