Flights out of OR Tambo International Airport were delayed on Wednesday evening as stormy weather hit Johannesburg.
The floods that lashed Joburg and Ekurhuleni on Wednesday left a trail of destruction, with at least six people killed, dozens of vehicles swept away and dwellings damaged. Several people were recovering in hospital after they were injured.
Flights were delayed at OR Tambo International Airport.
Emergency officials at Emer-G-Med also confirmed that at least one person had drowned in the flash floods on the N3 in Linksfield.
Photos posted by users on social media showed vehicles stuck almost roof-height in water.
