She is a well-travelled actress and has acted in one of South Africa’s most historic films, Sarafina.
She has also emerged stronger from an abusive marriage, and Leleti Khumalo can finally say she is happier than she has ever been in her life.
In an interview with True Love magazine, Leleti talks about her divorce to the director of Sarafina, Mbongeni Ngema.
“Leaving Ngema wasn’t difficult because my mind was made up. I wanted out,” she said. She talked about the abuse she endured in the marriage saying people had suggested she write a book, but she felt she was not yet ready.
In the article Leleti goes into detail about how she met her current husband Skhuthazo Khanyile, falling in love, getting married in 2012 and her experience with post-natal depression after the birth of her twins.
“I didn’t want to come out of the bedroom. I’d sleep the whole time,” she said.
Leleti speaks openly about her skin condition in the article. She said she found out about her skin condition Vitiligo (a skin condition where the pigment is lost from areas of the skin, causing whitish patches) when she was 24 years old and she has always been okay with her condition.
She only became worried when it started getting worse and she worried if her husband still loved her even with her face looking different. She said Skhuthazo reassured her that he still loves her.
