Fans came to Skhumba’s defence after 7 000 people signed a petition to have deejay Skhumba removed from Kaya FM for joking about topless protestors.
This week, the comedian was crucified after posting a video joking about the breasts of the topless protestors at Wits University.
Skhumba said he supports the #FeesMustFall movement, but their breasts were too downcast to be exposed publicly at the protest.
“Please don’t show your boobs that have silver stripes. When a boob shows, it should [look] like a tennis ball, not like wet sneakers without shoe laces,” he said in isiZulu.
A petition later circulated to have him removed from his Kaya FM gig until he apologises.
Skhuma later deleted the body-shaming video and posted an emotional apology to all the people who were offended by his jokes.
Meanwhile, many others felt Skhumba was just playing the role of a comedian and saw nothing wrong with his video or comments.
