There’s no stopping Candy Mokwena at the rate she’s going!
She is living her dream and inspiring others.
The singer, best known for appearing on Oskido’s Tsa Mandebele, has ventured into a new role.
She will be hosting her own talk show called Artist Profile with the Queen of Culture.
The new show will start airing on GauTV and will profile new and well-known artists from the beginning of December.
She was excited to speak about her show and said she cannot wait to see herself on TV.
“I will be talking to artists about exactly who they are, their cultures and how their communities influenced them to become who they are today.
“I want to know everything from scratch to the present,” said the singer who was born in Bolobedu, Limpopo.
She is passionate about her roots and aims to get others to pride themselves on their culture.
She will interview the likes of Winnie Mashaba, Mpumi and a range of upcoming artists.
“I want young artists to gain exposure. It will also help them with interviewing skills and being able to build an image,” she said.
Candy’s music career dates back to 1993.
She has shared the stage with Selaelo Selota, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Oliver Mtukudzi, Thandiswa Mazwai, Joe Thomas, Femi Kuti, Kenny Lattimore and others.
Her latest album, Easy Come Easy Go, has been well received by fans. The Afro-Soul/jazz album has also received two nominations for the upcoming Satma Awards: Best Afro-Soul Artist and Best Woman Artist.
She continues to work as a motivational speaker and visits schools to uplift young people and educate them about diabetes and the importance of eating well.
