POLICE minister Nathi Nhleko must love married life.
He’s already paid ilobolo at least seven times . . .
AND THERE’S A RUMOUR ABOUT AN EIGHTH WIFE!
Nkosinathi Nhleko is allegedly getting married to his medical nyatsi, Dr Nomcebo Mthembu.
Sunday Sun sources claim the news is being kept a secret – as the lovers haven’t asked for blessings from his current wife, Nothando Nkomo (31).
Nothando said: “I’ve been informed they’re planning a wedding and that he’s already building a house for Nomcebo in Ballito.
“I don’t know the details about the dates and the venue, since I’m no longer staying in my house. No one tells me anything – but I know a marriage will be taking place soon!”
A source close to the situation told Sunday Sunthat Nathi’s bodyguards had gifts in their state cars when he went to visit Nomcebo’s office in Hillcrest two weeks ago.
“They had all the traditional gifts you can think of. The cars were full of blankets, and amacansi(mats). I think the marriage will take place before December. Nomcebo has been spending a lot of time in Nathi’s house since he kicked his wife out,” the source said.
Another source alleged: “Over the years, Nathi’s paid a fortune in ilobolo for a lot of women, and he never stays with them for very long.
“I can definitely name at least six of them – except for the first wife.
“But I know he married her when he was 22.”
Then the source listed the brides who followed the first.
And here are the allegations, starting with the second bride.
  • Thuleleni Nhleko. Wife 2 hailed from Pietermaritzburg. The divorce went through after 1994.
  • Khabo Sithole. Wife 3 came from Umlazi and works at the SABC in Durban. Nathi paid ilobolo and married her in 2002 – but later left her.
  • Smangele Ngobese. Wife 4 was a prison administrator from Pietermaritzburg. Nathi paid ilobolo, but they divorced in 2008.
  • Nondumiso Mchunu. Wife 5 came from Colenso in the Natal Midlands. Nathi paid ilobolo, but the relationship ended badly in 2009.
  • Sophie Zwane. Wife 6 came from Richards Bay. Nathi paid ilobolo for her in 2011, and they moved to Jozi. He later dumped her.
  • Nothando Nkomo. Wife 7 is from Port Shepstone. A third source said Nathi paid ilobolo for her in 2014.
He kicked her out of their home in June this year after she allegedly inquired about Nomcebo.
SAPS Chief of Staff, Leon Mbangwa, didn’t confirm or deny the allegations.
“What does this have to do with his job?
“It’s his private life and we all have our past.
“Whoever told you this is trying very hard to tarnish the image of the minister. You’re trying very hard to destroy his character instead of focusing on his service delivery job,” he said.
Efforts to get comment from Dr Nomcebo were unsuccessful as her phone was off.
Her PA requested us to send emails on Friday but hadn’t responded at the time of going to press yesterday.
