SHE is a young, talented presenter at one of the SABC’s biggest radio station, Ukhozi FM.
Nomfundo Mkhize (25) may share her name and surname with Vuma and Gagasi FM presenters, but she is unique.
The Teen Zone presenter, popularly known by her fans as My F, told SunBuzz that her aim is to encourage and promote education among the youth of Mzansi.
“My show tackles issues that affect young people.
“I use it as a platform to encourage them to prioritise education because it will open doors of opportunity for them,” she said.
Nomfundo started at Ukhozi FM when she was still in grade 11 at Pinetown Girls High, presenting the show State Your Mind .
But she made sure that her job didn’t affect her studies.
She completed her law degree at the University of KZN in 2012.
She also came third in the Ellie Newman Moot Competition when final-year students debated issues before a panel that included Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng.
She said having experienced presenters as colleagues helps her to grow. These include Dudu Khoza, Sipho Mbatha and Mroza Buthelezi.
“I get to learn new things every day. Everyone here is willing to learn and pass information to others. That helps me to grow my radio career,” she said.
Although her passion is law, Nomfundo said she won’t quit her radio job.
“Radio is something I’m passionate about because I get to pass my message to millions of people.
“But representing people in the court of law is also something I am passionate about.
“I have been able to make time for university and radio, so I will also make time for court and radio,” said Nomfundo.
