TELEVISION personality Seipati Mpotoane was attacked after attending the pre-launch event of the Women of Note concert on Sunday night.
The SABC’s Masakeng and M-Net’s Mama Stole My Hunk actress was admitted to hospital after she sustained eye, arm and rib injuries.
Seipati, from Bayswater in Bloemfontein, said she was with her friend Thato Mokhothu when they were nearly hit by a vehicle.
“We were standing outside the club after the pre-launch when it drove on the wrong side of the road, narrowly missing us.
“The driver hooted and Thato asked him why he wanted to hit us. She then threw a drink at him before running away.”
Seipati added that she didn’t run away as she had done nothing wrong.
“The next thing the driver came towards me and started to hit me with hot klaps and fists.
“He also kicked me. All this time he was swearing at me. I sustained injuries to my left hand, left eye and rib and had to be admitted to hospital,” said Seipati.Thato (35), from Pentagon Park, said she was shocked by the man who attacked them during Women’s Month.
“I was marketing the event when I met with Seipati. After he nearly hit us with his charcoal Mercedes-Benz minibus, he started swearing at us. We exchanged words and he told me he was not my ex-husband.
“He started to beat Seipati up and that’s when I ran to my car,” she said.
Thato said the man caught up with her and started to beat her up.
“He said he wanted to see the law set an example with him and that if I were to open a case it wouldn’t go anywhere.”
Constable Wendy Nkabi confirmed the cops were investigating a case of assault. “Our members from Park Road have registered a case after two womenwere allegedly assaulted,” she said.
No arrests were made and investigations continue.
