Only after a week of joining East Coast Radio Station, there’s already a petition to get Phat Joe kicked out.
The station manager, Boni Mchunu has confirmed that there is a petition calling for Joe to be fired, reported Sowetan.
“We are committed to being a responsible broadcaster and will respond to any complaints on an individual basis and, where warranted, by merit,” said Mchunu.
The daily further reported Hayley Going of Durban is the one who started a petition to have him removed from the drive time slot.
Some of the accusations leveled against him, include making racist comments on air and talking about “sexing himself up”.
His unsavory jokes about serial rape, jail rape and calling Caster Semenya a “him” also earned him ire of listeners.
The petition has gained 2500 signatures, with the hashtag sparking debate on social media.
