Mabala Noise has maintained its silence after accusations by EFF leader Julius Malema that the entertainment company had paid artists no less than R5 million to join the label and perform at ANC political events.
“Investigate Mabala Noise,” said Malema, who claimed that Nkabinde “receives money from Water and Sanitation” and injects it into his music business.
Malema was speaking at a press conference at the IEC results centre, which was broadcast live across the country on Friday afternoon.
He took shots at Mabala Noise, claiming that the company is headed up by ANC Youth League treasurer general Reggie Nkabinde, and that it paid no less than R5 million to artists signed to the label.
TMG Entertainment has reached out to Mabala Noise for comment, with representatives saying they were "working on putting a statement together."
TMG Entertainment also reached out to Riky Rick. Representatives for the musician said that he was at a music shoot and would comment at a later stage.
"The reality of the situation is that this money thing is playing a big role in this election. Yoh. People have spent one billion here on paying artists to do dabbing. But dabbing has fallen now," Malema said.
In July TMG Entertainment reported that Mabala Noise had shaken up the entertainment industry after signing a number of prominent musicians including Riky Rick, Nasty C and Gigi Lamayne.
"From Riky Rick. Major League. All of them. Not a single artist registered under Mabala Noise received less than 5 million," said Malema.
He went on to question where Nkabinde received the money from and made reference to alleged tenders received from Minister of Water and Sanitation Nomvula Mokonyane.
TimesLIVE reached out to Mokonyane for comment who said that she was in meetings at the time of call.
But Home Affairs spokesperson Mayihlome Tshwete responded on Twitter to a comment on the claims, poking fun at the allegation Malema had made.
