ACTOR and director Buti Morake (55) was found dead in his house in Leboneng, Temba, north of Tshwane on Saturday evening.
Morake, who starred in the SABC1 drama series Death of a Queen as Rarantsha, was found in his bedroom in a pool of blood.
His family suspects he was killed by jealous people.
His grieving brother, Joseph Segoati (57), said Buti had received death threats two weeks prior to the incident.
“He was busy with a project to have a bridge constructed in our area and it seemed he had enemies,” Joseph said.
He said he was woken up in the middle of Saturday night and told that his brother’s house was on fire.
“I arrived at his house and rushed inside, worried that Buti might be trapped in the fire.
“I found him lying on the bedroom floor, bleeding from the head. I tried to wake him up but he was already dead.
“The blankets were soaked in oil but only his hands were burned,” Joseph said.
He said Buti had been receiving threatening calls, warning him not to continue with the bridge project or he would lose his life.
Sergeant Thembi Nowathe of Temba Police Cluster said an inquest docket was opened for further investigation.
