‘Touch’ has finally set the record straight on why he resigned as Metro FM DJ.
A few weeks ago, real name Thabo Molefe, Tbo Touch handed in his resignation at the SABC, leaving vacant his spot as host of the Touch Down 326 drive time show on Metro FM.
After 11 years of being with public broadcaster, Touch said he resigned due to a matter of principle. Times Live reported that he had quit over the SABC’s refusal to deny reports that he had been taken off air for a week for refusing to read a Hyundai advert, to which the SABC later lost R15-million worth of advertising.
Although Molefe confirmed that he did not read the advert, he refuted reports that his suspension was due to that. He had been suspended due to an altercation with a producer.
His resignation is because the SABC did not correct reports about his suspension.
‘It was about principle. If I did not believe in myself I would not have resigned as the host of the No1 radio show nationwide,’ he said.
