A 21-year-old Mdantsane man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for robbing his neighbour of R100 last year, Eastern Cape police said on Monday.
Lieutenant Nkosikho Mzuku said Yamkela Tshoyi was sentenced on Friday by the Mdantsane Magistrate's Court.
In May 2012, Tshoyi's neighbour was on his way to a spaza shop when he robbed and threatened him with a knife.
"Yamkela [Tshoyi] managed to get the money and ran away with it," he said.
Mzuku said it was not easy to convince the magistrate, but in the end Tshoyi was found guilty.
