LINDA Sibiya has confirmed he will be leaving Vuma FM, along with Lucky Sefatsa and Jacinta Ngobese.
Linda will be replaced by DJ S’bu, whose real name is Sbusiso Leope.
This comes after the KZN commercial radio station started negotiating presenters’ contracts yesterday.
Jacinta took to Facebook to voice her unhappiness, writing: “There’s no security whatsoever. The whole world knows about it. Radio bosses can go to sleep at night and wake to decide they no longer need you. Whether you have children, bills to pay or whatever, they don’t care.”
Jacinta, who joined the radio station after her contract with Gagasi FM was not renewed last year, told Daily Sun she was done with radio for now.
“It’s sad that a presenter works hard and wins fans but at the end of the day their contract is not renewed for some reason. Every year radio presenters have to panic. I’m tired of radio. I just want to focus on my business for now.”
When asked if she stood by her Facebook post, she said: “It was driven by the terrible mood at work when the contract news broke. I personally don’t have any issues with my bosses.”
Linda confirmed his departure but said the decision to leave was his. “I will be doing my last show on 30 June. That is when I will reveal where I am going. I have been in the industry for 20 years now and I need to move on,” he said.
Tony Mallam, Vuma FM managing director and head of radio for Times Media, confirmed that Linda had resigned. He said: “He sat down with me and told me he needs to focus on himself.
