Following tabloid reports that Mzansi’s most-loved Afro-pop group, The Soil, was going to break-up, the threesome has dismissed those rumours.
They say they’re “stronger than we were before and rather are excited about what’s coming up in the next 3 months”.
They’re referring to their national tour #ExperienceTheSoil, which will see them invite some of their fans, who can sing and perform, to join them on stage.
“We’re looking for young people between the ages of 18-35 to join us on stage in each city or province that we’ll be performing in during our tour,” they said.
They added that this was a way for them to give me back and that they’re “giving unknown artists an opportunity to actually showcase their work, so doors can open for them. Such a platform can give them a platform to kick-start they need”.
The popular group consists of Luphindo Ngxanga, Ntsika Ngxanga and Theo Matshoba, who’s standing in for Buhle Mda while focuses on her ancestral calling. The group says they’re willing to mentor young talent as their next project.
“Mentoring young people is a project we are going to start after this one. You could say this is phase one of the mentorship programme,” they say.
The Susan hit-makers say they are gunning for a Grammy Award and they also plan on starting The Soil Academy, “For all those talented individuals out there”.
Catch them in Bloemfontein on Saturday 25 June and then East London and Port Elizabeth.
