First launched in 2013, the Simon ‘Mabhunu’ Sabela Film and Television Awards recognise outstanding achievement and excellence within the South African film and television industry, with a special focus on KwaZulu-Natal.
Mbatha served as the host for this year’s awards, changing into four breathtaking ensembles throughout the night. Three of her bright-hued looks – with electric African prints, peplum panels and daring cleavage-hugging details – were the creations of fashion designer Ri.Ch Factory.
The Isibaya and Umlilo actress also slipped into a monochrome Durban Fashion Fair halter-neck gown.
Big winners of the night included Vusi Kunene for his acting stint on Mzansi Magic soapie Isibaya, Uzalovillainess Dawn Thandeka King as well as Isibayasupporting cast members Celeste Ntuli and Bheki Mkhwane.
Jessica Nkosi, Somizi Mhlongo, Dumisani Dlamini and Leleti Khumalo were all in attendance. Sarafina! received a special tribute during the show.
