ZOLISA XALUVA’s fame is biting him in the butt!
The former Generations actor says he has been forced to watch helplessly as a conman masqueraded as himself. And he swindles people on Facebook. The Zabalaza actor said he tried to open a case last year, but didn’t get any help from the cops.
The angry Zolisa responded to allegations that an aspiring actor, Yongama Mrwetyana (20), took a nine-hour bus trip from Mthatha to Joburg in a bid to realise his dream of becoming an SABC actor. Yongama said he was made to believe he’s earned himself an acting role in Generations: The Legacy and Isibaya by a person claiming to be Zolisa on Facebook.
Speaking to Sunday Sun, Yongama said he saw a post on Zolisa’s Facebook page last month, calling on aspiring actors to email him their details, so they can become actors on prime-time programmes. “Zolisa promised me an acting role inGenerations: The Legacy and Isibaya.
“First, I was told to deposit R300 at Pep Stores. Days went by without any reply from Zolisa, so I asked him about the role via Facebook. “He said it was bad timing and the only spot left was for an extra, which cost R400,” Yongama said.
He said: “I went to borrow R400 and deposited the money, but still there was nothing. That’s when I resorted to going straight to the SABC so I could tell them I’ve paid money to Zolisa to be on TV. “But I was turned away. I’m so pissed. Now, I need to go back home to Mthatha heartbroken.”
Sunday Sun contacted Zolisa, who was disturbed by the allegations. “I’m not an agent and I don’t wish to be one. When I first heard the stories of people using my name to con people, I tried to open a case last year, but I couldn’t get help. “It’s sad. People shouldn’t believe anything on social media. I’m not even on Facebook any more,” he said.
This is not the first time Zolisa’s name was allegedly used to con people. In 2012, it was reported a conman was sending people SMSes asking for money.
