Actress, model and TV personality Boity has had enough of the body shaming paraded on social media.
Not only her, but her mother as well. Following the furore over her dress at the South African Music Awards, the Club 808 presenter took to the social media profiles to address the issue of body shaming, saying that the majority of it comes from fellow women.
OF COURSE I have to defend myself from all the harsh things I have been reading about my dress and the negative sexual connotations created.— Boity Thulo (@Boity) June 6, 2016
In her post, she lamented that she is also human and attributed most of the shaming to come from other women. “The most body shaming comes from fellow women. I will not allow your projection to make me dislike MY body,” Boity wrote. Through her post, she encouraged women to dress as they please “in whatever the feel comfortable in”.The picture going around of my “supposed private parts” was created/photoshopped by people who revel in cyber bullying…— Boity Thulo (@Boity) June 6, 2016
This is a fight we should be fighting together in order for society to break the chains of controlling how women should look, feel, behave.. — Boity Thulo (@Boity) June 6, 2016
I cannot and I will not allow your projection to force me into disliking MY body, how I treat it and how I dress it up.— Boity Thulo (@Boity) June 6, 2016
I will not wear something that does not satisfy me for the sake of pleasing people who are angry at how comfortable I am in my skin. — Boity Thulo (@Boity) June 6, 2016
If I have a problem with my thighs, my breasts, my ass, my legs, my scars, my hair…let me be the one to worry about them.— Boity Thulo (@Boity) June 6, 2016
Stop policing how women should dress. My body and how I dress it should not effect you in any way. It does no harm to anyone.— Boity Thulo (@Boity) June 6, 2016
