AN EMPLOYEE of Setsoto Municipality in Ficksburg is angry with her employer for failing to protect her against her alleged s_ex pest boss. The 36-year-old woman claimed her boss touched her b_reasts in April last year. When she told him not to do it, he allegedly told her to stop acting like a child, saying she knew he wanted to have s_ex with her. After she refused to give in to his demand for s_ex, her boss allegedly made her life at work hell.
The woman told Daily Sun the municipality had not done anything about the charge she brought against her boss, and now she has decided to involve the police. The woman, who has been working at the municipality for 10 years, said: “I thought that starting a grievance procedure and lodging a complaint with management would have helped me, but until today nothing has happened. “Last Monday I decided enough was enough and I reported the incident to the local police station.
“It looks as if my seniors are taking my manager’s side. The municipality has failed to give me straight answers on what are they going to do with my case. Instead, my boss has now threatened to harm my two kids. “That’s when I felt the cops might help to end my misery.”
Captain Phumelelo Dhlamini confirmed that a case of s_exual harassment was opened against a municipal official.
He said the docket would be sent to the magistrate for a decision on whether to prosecute or not. Daily Sun spoke to mayor Tshediso Jakobo, who said he didn’t deal directly with employees, so he was not aware of the s_exual harassment case.
He promised to speak to the manager and to call a meeting between the two parties to find out what really happened between them.
