A story broke out on social media suggesting that Public Protector Thuli Madonsela was shot 9 times at her home this week. According to the story : “Thuli Madonsela was shot at close range early this morning by one of her body guards who was later found dead a few metres away from the scene”
It has since been established that the article is hoax and Thuli is very much alive. Is is also worth noting that Thuli Madonsela does not have bodyguards.
The tarnishing article further went on to suggest that “According to CCTV footage obtained by the police, Thuli Madonsela’s body guard who doubles as her chauffeur made a phone call 30 seconds before shooting her 9 times all over her body including her jaw, neck, right arm, lower abdomen and thigh’
Again this was proved utter rubbish as Thuli Madonsela drives her own vehicles.
Thuli has been under the spotlight lately after it emerged she has apparently been receiving death threats. However, she has been reluctant to comment on whether police are properly handling information she received that a gang boss has been paid R740,000 to arrange three hitmen to kill her. She said she’s spoken to police, but she appeared to doubt their operation and whether they are taking the issue seriously.
