AWARD-WINNING gospel sensation, Sfiso Ncwane, is rumoured to have bought his pastor a car worth more than R1 million – as a gift!
But the singer is allegedly failing to refund his promoter almost R73 000. And now, Sfiso could lose it all. Sunday Sun can reveal the Kulungile Baba hitmaker is being taken to court for allegedly failing to pitch at a gig. Sfiso was allegedly booked to perform at the All White Jazz Festival at Morula Sun, next to Mabopane, on 16 December last year but allegedly failed to pitch.
Sunday Sun reported at the time that Sfiso allegedly even failed to explain to the promoter, Eldridge Motlhake, why he didn’t show up. Eldridge told Sunday Sun he paid the full amount that Sfiso asked for. He said he tried everything to get his money back from Sfiso, but to no avail.
“I’m now left with no other option but to go to court,” he said. Eldridge told the People’s Paper even though Sfiso has been getting a lot of gigs, he’s still not refunded him. Eldridge said he’s gatvol with Sfiso’s empty promises.
“He’s been promising to pay back my money since last year, but he doesn’t live up to his promises,” Eldridge said. He added that he won’t stop going after Sifiso until he gets his money. “I’m going to clean him out. He doesn’t practise what he preaches in his song. I haven’t met Sfiso in person to arrange payment, but we’ve been talking on the phone. I then decided to hand the matter over to my legal team and now we’re heading to court. We want to clean him out,” Eldridge said.
Sunday Sun is in possession of the summons sent to Sfiso, which reads in part: I refer to the above-mentioned matter as well as my email dated 5 May 2016. I confirm that our correspondent in Durban managed to open a duplicate court file. The warrant of execution has been issued and delivered to the relevant sheriff. I will let you know if the sheriff is able to attach the movables of Ncwane Communications.
Yesterday Sfiso said: “I don’t remember that gig, the only AllWhite Jazz Festival I know about was hosted by me in Amanzimtoti. Honestly, I don’t know.”
Yesterday his manager and wife Ayanda Ncwane said: “We, as Mr Ncwane’s office, are responsible for every booking and he only takes finalised bookings from us.
“We reply on behalf of Mr Ncwane. And we don’t wish to respond further on this matter since you have mentioned the summons.
“Our lawyers will investigate your allegations and respond accordingly.”
