FORMER child star, Dineo Nchabeleng, is back on our screens – proving that her talent is real.
The actress, who used to be on Generations,took time out to raise her daughter and now she’s back on prime time TV acting on Mzansi Magic’s new show, Ring of Lies.
She plays Sli Majola, an aspiring boxing instructor who wants to take over the family gym some day.
Speaking to SunBuzz, about why she decided to be part of the show, Dineo said: “As a freelance artist you get briefs for auditions and hope for the best. The show was like that for me as we don’t necessarily get the whole script – just scenes you’ll audition for and a character brief.
“I went to the audition, as we all do, looking for work. I did my best and it paid off.”
She’s one of the main characters, acting alongside Florence Masebe, Mpho Sebeng, Masoja Msiza, Bohang Moeko, Baby Cele and Silindile Nodangala.
The telenovela follows
bare-knuckle boxing champion Neo, who gets scouted from the dusty rural streets of Limpopo by famous manager, Mandla.
Neo’s parents don’t approve of his dream to become a boxer, so he runs away during the night to follow his dream of becoming a champion in Jozi.
Asked what challenges her character will face, Dineo said: “The character goes through an interesting emotional journey, so exploring it has been great for me. I really pushed myself playing this character. I hope viewers see my growth.”
Asked how she feels when people call her Angela, she said: “I don’t take offence! At that time there were few child actors and we touched many hearts.”
