Some new 5FM family members have started on the station and includes newsreader Sibs Matiyela, Das Kapital and Lindo Mbuso. You can find newsreader Sibs on Hamman Time with Nick Hamman (Mon-Fri, 08:00 – 10:00) and The Thando Thabooty Show with Thando Thabethe and Justine Toerien (Mon-Fri, 10:00 – 13:00). On joining the station, Sibs says, “To wake up every morning and be able to do what I love is enough of a blessing. But to have an opportunity to do such a thing on 5FM is mind blowing.”
Das Kapital, who was a regular feature on The 5th Element, has his own show, In Das we Trust, on Sundays, 22:00 – 01:00. Das, real name Kyle Brinkmann, says he has been listening to the station since he was a kid. “I've been listening to 5FM ever since I could remember. Having my own show on the station now is surreal. The support is already streaming in, and I'm certain we're about to have a lot of fun together on In Das We Trust.”
Linda Mbuso joined in March, holding done the Power After Hours (Mon-Thur, 01:00 – 05: 00). This show will now be taken over by Vic Naidoo, who is already hosting All Night Music (Fri-Sun, 01:00 – 05:00).
5FM are proud to announce a brand new show replacing
- The 5th Element (Mon-Fri 19:00 – 10:00) hosted by Linda Mbuso, Tumi Voster and newbie Frankie du Toit.
- Frankie will also be taking over Saturday breakfast alongside Nadia Romanos and Jude van Wyk (07:00 – 10:00).
- Justin Toerien will host Sunday Breakfast with a Cuppa JT (07:00 – 10:00). “I am so excited to take over the weekend breakfast show every Sunday.
- Thomas did an incredible job and I’m looking forward to the challenge of trying to fill his shoes.
- It’s been a big achievement for me and I cannot wait for the adventure that lies ahead,” says Justin.
The Roger Goode Show (Monday-Friday, 16:00 – 19:00)
welcomes a new sports presenter in the form of Robbie Kruse. Andrew Hope, who is currently on the show, will move to sports on The Forbes and Fix Show (Mon-Fri, 13:00 – 16:00).
The station has also welcomed operational changes to its management team. Liesl Hefkie joins the station as Marketing Manager. Liesl, having previously worked as Marketing Manager at SA FM is pleased to join the station. “What an awesome opportunity to lead the marketing team, a group of young, energetic and committed individuals. I look forward to ensuring we live loud nationally,” says Liesl.
Grant Nash, who listeners will remember as one half of the Grant and Anele show, has been at the station working in a mentor and coaching capacity. He now takes over as Programme Manager. “I am hugely honoured to fill the shoes of such industry giants that have gone before as 5FM Programme Managers. 5FM is an iconic South African radio brand and this is a tremendous opportunity that I am excited to undertake. I see my position as one that honours and respects this rich tradition, while helping to position 5FM for a rich exciting future in a digital and diverse world,” says Grant on his appointment.
