The Sibikwa Arts Centre is set to hold auditions for its upcoming productions iLembe and Chapter 2, Section 9 – both to be presented at the Grahamstown National Arts Festival – Sibikwa is looking for actors, dancers and stage managers.
For iLembe, a powerful play depicting the last few months of the life of Shaka kaSenzangakhona, better known as Shaka Zulu, two young, energetic male dancers with a minimum height of 1m80 and theatre experience and a young white male actor to play the role of controversial diarist Henry Francis Fynn, British trader and one of the first Natal pioneers who became close to Shaka Zulu.
Chapter 2, Section 9, a new play documenting the phenomenon of sexual violence against gender-non-conforming women through real-life stories of victims and perpetrators, requires four actresses between the ages of 20 and 40 who have experience in storytelling.
For both productions we are looking for experienced stage managers with a driver’s licence in the case of Chapter 2, Section 9 preference will be given to a female stage manager.
Auditions will be held from Monday 11 to Thursday 14 April 2016 from 10 to 16h00 at the Sibikwa Arts Centre (13 Liverpool Park, Benoni South).
