How to make a Trump Steak?

Trump Steak

Trump Steaks gained fame for being marketed as high-quality, premium cuts of beef. While you can't purchase them under the Trump name anymore, you can recreate the experience by preparing a steak with high-end quality and attention to detail.

Ingredients:

  • High-quality steak (ribeye, strip steak, or filet mignon preferred)
  • Salt (Kosher or sea salt)
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Unsalted butter (for basting)
  • Garlic cloves (optional, for flavor)
  • Fresh herbs (e.g., thyme or rosemary, optional)
  • Olive oil (for searing)

Equipment:

  • Cast iron skillet or grill
  • Tongs
  • Meat thermometer

Instructions:

1. Choose the Right Steak

  • Select a high-quality, well-marbled steak. Look for USDA Prime or Choice, or a comparable grade depending on your location.

2. Prepare the Steak

  • Remove the steak from the fridge 30–60 minutes before cooking to let it come to room temperature.
  • Pat the steak dry with paper towels to ensure a good sear.
  • Season generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.

3. Heat Your Cooking Surface

  • Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat until it's very hot, or preheat your grill to high heat.
  • Add a small amount of olive oil to the skillet if using one.

4. Sear the Steak

  • Place the steak in the skillet or on the grill. Do not move it for 2–3 minutes to allow a good crust to form.
  • Flip the steak and sear the other side for another 2–3 minutes.

5. Baste for Flavor (Optional)

  • If cooking in a skillet, add 1–2 tablespoons of butter, a smashed garlic clove, and fresh herbs to the pan. Tilt the pan slightly and use a spoon to baste the steak with the melted butter for extra flavor.

6. Cook to Desired Doneness

  • Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature:
    • Rare: 120–125°F (49–52°C)
    • Medium-rare: 130–135°F (54–57°C)
    • Medium: 140–145°F (60–63°C)
    • Medium-well: 150–155°F (66–68°C)
    • Well-done: 160°F+ (71°C+)
  • Remove the steak from the heat when it is 5°F (3°C) below your desired temperature, as it will continue to cook while resting.

7. Rest the Steak

  • Transfer the steak to a plate or cutting board and let it rest for 5–10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a juicy steak.

8. Serve

  • Slice against the grain for tenderness and serve with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a crisp salad.

Enjoy your homemade Trump Steak experience!
