Facebook has revealed its Surround 360 camera, which the company said will capture 3D footage and render it online.
According to a report by Engadget, the camera will not be for sale – with its design and specifications available on GitHub in the coming months.
The Surround 360 features 14 cameras around its perimeter, with one fish-eye camera pointing up and two cameras pointing down.
Facebook stated that the rig will produce “truly spherical video”, and can put together video in 4K, 6K, and 8K for use in 3D applications.
