Ever the masters of media and presentation, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) today launched its own app for members after unveiling it at its manifesto launch.
The #EFFManifesto launch was held today at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto, making the party the last of the top three to reveal its game plan in run up to the 2016 Municipal Elections.
The #EFFApp allows you to apply for membership, should you be interested in joining the “Red Berets” as the party’s members are called, find the nearest branch office, engage with the EFF on social media without leaving the app and watch videos of the party.
#EFFApp was developed by a company called 864Mobile, who are also behind the app for hip-hop star, Cassper Nyovest. Nyovest launched his own phone last week, in a colour CiC Malema would surely approve of.
In October last year, the ANC launched its NGC mobile app, prior to its fourth National General Council. This was, however, specific to that event rather than a tool for rallying membership.
The DA launched its #MyActivist app ahead of its manifesto launch last week. This one however, is not a mobile app in the strict sense, rather it’s a mobile website. That means, essentially, the EFF are the first to launch a full, official app.
Given Julius Malema’s prolific use of social media (he’s South Africa’s most followed politician on Twitter), it shouldn’t come as a surprise to find the party is that little but more savvy than the competition when it comes to modern mobile communications.
The #EFFApp is available for download from Google Play.
