Award winning South African Afro-soul singer, Donald, today announced that he will be recording his first ever live DVD at Carnival City on the 19th of August.
The DVD is dubbed the ‘Red Mic Xperience’ and it won’t only be just a normal DVD but ‘a movie’.
“I felt that it was important for me to take this big leap in introducing this stage of my career.’ said Mr in denial, as he is affectionally known.
Donald has teamed up with industry greats like rapper Riky Rick, singer Busiswa, fashion designer Paledi, who currently dresses the artist and one of South Africa’s leading choreographer’s, Somizi Mhlongo who has become an icon in the entertainment industry.
The above mentioned celebrities will bring different dynamics to the recording of the video, Riky Rick and Busiswa will be the supporting acts while Paledi will contribute with designing out of this world outfits for Donald and his dancers, Somizi will not only be the choreographer for the entire performance but he will be the creative director.
“I have been working with Donald for a while, he challenges me creatively and I’m looking forward to working with Somizi in terms of bringing together the choreography and outfits,” said Paledi.
The ever so energetic and funny reality TV star, choreographer and Idols SA judge Somizi revealed that he doesn’t do music video and DVD recording because of budget constraints, however he agreed to do Donald’s DVD because he believes he will get
“We intend to go full force and leaving no stone unturned with this DVD. I want the costumes to not only be designed but engineered, even though we haven’t started but I want to break records” added Somizi.
Rapper Riky Rick said he agreed to be part of this DVD recording because he wanted to be there when Donald realises his dream.
The ‘Ngoku’ singer, Busiswa who came rather late mentioned that Donald has always supported her in her journey in the music industry from when she was still an up and coming artist and that is why she grabbed the opportunity to work alongside Donald.
“My biggst thing is performing live on stage, if you get on a production like this you get to see what happens behind the scenes because in the future I would like to do something like this.” added Busiswa.
The man of the moment Donald refused to divulge and any further details about ‘Red Mic Xperience’ but he did say that ticket prices start from R150 to R350 at Computicket.
Donald also plans on taking the ‘Red Mic Xperience’ to other parts of the continent, so definitely be on the lookout for that.
