FOR months she dreamed of nothing but her perfect wedding.
And Thulisile Maphosa thought for it to be perfect, it had to be unique.
She decided being different was the way to go.
On Saturday the 27-year-old’s dream came true.
Residents from Temba, north of Tshwane, watched in awe as Thulisile and her husband Lucky Majadibodu (30) and followers took to the streets in tractors!
Thulisile and Lucky literally rose above the rest in their special bridal car – a backhoe loader.
The bridesmaids and groomsmen followed slowly behind on tractors.
“Wow, this is so amazing and so creative. Some people can think,” said one resident.
The happy bride said it was her dream to have a wedding that was special. “I wanted to do something different which would be remembered years after the wedding.
“When I first told my husband about my tractor idea he just laughed at me. He actually thought I was joking.”
“He wanted us to rent fancy cars but I didn’t want that.
“I told our families this was my big day and I wanted to celebrate it in my own style,” said Thulisile.
Lucky said he never thought his wife would go through with the idea. “I thought she wasn’t serious. I have never seen a wedding with the bride and groom driven in such vehicles.
“I thought we would be a laughing stock but it turned out to be such a success.
“I’m happy that everything went according to plan and that she had the wedding of her dreams.”
The bride’s mum, Baby Maphosa, said she had been saving for years to pay for a fancy wedding car for her daughter. “When she told me about her idea I was floored. I still booked the limousines, thinking she would change her mind.
“But I’m happy for her,” she said.
